Paula Patton was the daughter of Joyce
(Vanraden) and Charles Patton. Her father is African American and her mother is
caucasian is of German, English, and Dutch her ancestry. When she was a young
girl in the area, her family lived in front of the 20th Century Fox lot. She
was an avid film enthusiast since her early years. Her mother who was a school
teacher and her father, a lawyer, were both avid film fans. Paula said that she
attempted to escape as an infant through "pretending" to pretend to
be someone else than. So it's not a surprise that she was a part of Hamilton
Magnet Arts High School plays. Her favorite character was "Abigail"
from "The Crucible". In the end, she chose to take a course in film
at the University of Southern California in the summer program and received a
three-month contract to create documentaries for PBS. Then, she was hired as a
production assistant on documentaries on TV and Howie Mandel's talk show. Then
she began producing documentaries for Medical Diaries (2000) airing on Discovery
Health Channel. Paula admits now that she was happy with what she was doing,
however her goals was the same as when she was a child, so she learned acting
and then shifted gears and became an actor. She became a star within a matter
of days and was in Hitch (2006), Idlewild (2006) as well as Deja Vu (2006) as
the female character.
